Unlike Pets all Familiars are already extinct and because of that they can be anything ranging from animals on the planet pre-Nuclear War and even those found on other planets as long as they match up with the constellation. (e.g a Ursa Major can't be a flamingo but can be a giant bear-dragon with three heads.)
